**No School on Monday, September 4 - Labor Day**
Geography A: We will continue working on Chapter 2, which focuses on the physical world. Civics: We will begin our unit on the Constitution. American Heroes: We are continuing our unit on colonization and the mysteries of Roanoke. World History: We will begin Chapter 1 which details the Renaissance of Europe, including the Reformation and the creation of the Church of England. US History: Chapter 8 is up next for US, which follows the US as it evolved from a regional player to a world power through the Spanish-American War. This is an SLO chapter, so we will be taking a pre- and post-test. Current Events: We are continuing our unit on media bias and fake news. Geography A: We plan to finish Chapter 1, take a small quiz, and begin Chapter 2 by Friday.
Civics: We are on Unit 1 - Origins of Government. American Heroes: We are diving into the world of colonization and the mysteries of Roanoke. World History: We will begin our unit on the Black Death/Plague this week, which will help us to introduce the first chapter of our textbook on the Renaissance. US History: We will be working on and finishing our US Constitution unit. The Constitution test will given on Friday, September 1. All students must pass this test (60% or better) in order to graduate. Only two retakes will be given. Current Events: We are going to do an independent article research and presentation and next week get into liberal and conservative viewpoints, media bias and fake news. **We will take time on Monday, August 21 to discuss the historicity of eclipses.**
Geography A: We are beginning Chapter 1, which looks at the basics of geography. We’re hoping to test on Friday, August 25. Civics: This will be spent on our introduction to government. American Heroes: We’ll be using this week to select our topics for the semester. World History: We will begin our unit on the Black Death/Plague this week, which will help us to introduce the first chapter of our textbook on the Renaissance. US History: For this week and next we will work on our US Constitution unit. The Constitution test will given on Friday, September 1. All students must pass this test (60% or better) in order to graduate. Only two retakes will be given. Current Events: Our discussions this week will focus on media bias and fake news. |
