Geography A: We will continue with Chapter 5, looking at the physical geography of the US and Canada. We will test on the chapter material on 10/30 and will take our test on the 50 US States on 10/31. Civics: We are studying the Executive Branch of the US Government. American Heroes: We are wrapping up the Civil War/Reconstruction Unit, and then, we will move on to the Industrial Revolution. World History: We will wrap up and test on C2/C3 on Friday, 10/27. Next week, we will begin Chapter 4: The Absolute Monarchies of Europe US History: We are working our way through Chapter 10, on WW1. We will not be testing this chapter but will instead be taking several section quizzes. Current Events: We are taking a quiz on North/South Korea and are going to discuss the California wildfires. Mr. Callies (Art) joined with the Social Studies Department to defend our trophy under the auspices of "Team Britain." (Yes, we know the flag is backwards. We're Americans. USA! USA! USA!)
**No School - October 9 - Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples' Day**
Geography A: As we prepare to conclude Chapter 4, we will begin our mini-unit on cultural diffusion. Civics: We are beginning our unit on the Illinois Constitution. We are planning on testing on this in two weeks, and this test is a graduation requirement. American Heroes: This week and next, we will be continuing our unit on the Civil War and Reconstruction Era. World History: We will begin our unit on the exploration/conquest of the world by Europe. US History: We will continue with Chapter 9, on the Progressive Era, planning to test on October 17. Current Events: Our students will be working on their North Korea projects. |
