All courses are prepping for final exams.
Geography: We have begun Chapter 12 on the cultural geography of Europe. Soon, we'll do a topical unit: Nations in the News.
Civics: Continuing our unit on the judicial branch.
American Heroes: Studying our final unit on the Civil Rights Movement.
World History: Chapter 14 test on Tuesday, May 1. We'll then watch the movie The Last Battalion to close out the unit.
US History: Our final unit will be on the war in Vietnam, and its role in shaping US culture.
Current Events: Semester notebooks are due this week, and we have our Space X Quiz on Monday.
Government: Finishing Chapter on the presidency and watching All the President's Men. Final exams reviews will be handed out on Tuesday.
Economics: Finishing our unit on financial markets and then beginning to prepare for finals.
Geography: We will test on human/cultural geography of Latin America on Monday, April 23. Our next unit will focus on the human/cultural geography of Europe, with a test planned for May 3.
Civics: We are learning how to legislate and how a bill becomes a law. Our final unit of the semester will be the judicial branch.
American Heroes: We are wrapping up the series "Heroes of the World Wars" and testing. Our next and final unit of study will be the Civil Rights movement.
World History: This week will be spent covering Sections 4 and 5 of Chapter 14, focusing on the winning of the war and the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. We will likely be testing Chapter 14 on May 1.
US History: We will finish Chapter 18/19 on the 1960's, focusing on the Kennedy/Johnson administrations and the Civil Rights movement. As a close-out activity of our study of the 60's, the space race, the civil rights and women's rights movement, we will be watching HIDDEN FIGURES. Our next unit will focus on Vietnam.
Current Events: Our current unit is a study of the political and moral implications of modern drone warfare.
Government: Our final unit is a study of the presidency.
Economics: We are wrapping up our study of labor unions. Next, we will dive into studying the 401K markets.
Geography: We are currently studying the human/cultural geography of Latin America as part of Unit 4: Latin America. We will be testing for this unit on Friday, April 20.
Civics: Next week, we'll begin looking at the legislative branch of the US government. Our final unit of the semester will be the judicial branch.
American Heroes: Currently, we are going through the series "Heroes of the World Wars." Our next and final unit of study will be the Civil Rights movement.
World History: We are currently working on our essay on the causes of the Great War. We will spend much of next week finishing this before moving on to examine the technology and techniques that made WWI so gruesome. We will likely be testing Chapter 14 on May 1.
US History: We have just begun our combined unit of Chapter 18/19 on the 1960's, focusing on the Kennedy/Johnson administrations and the Civil Rights movement. We will likely be testing on April 25/26.
Current Events: Our students are giving independent news presentations on various
hot topics, including school safety, the Syrian crisis, and concussions in high school athletics.
Government: We are looking at federalism and how it functions.
Economics: Currently, we are studying labor unions and their role in the economy.
Geography: We are just beginning our unit on the US and Canada. For the next two weeks, we'll be looking at the physical geography of this region, and the students will take a test over all 50 US states.
Civics: Working on the US Constitution, testing next week.
American Heroes: Studying the Industrial Revolution and the inventors who helped change America.
World History: This week will be spent in C12, Section 2, which explores the partitioning of Africa by Western nations during the era of New Imperialism.
US History: By the end of this week, we will have hopefully completed much of the material of Chapter 15 and will be testing on Chapters 14 & 15 next week.
Current Events: The class is currently leaning about DACA and the issues surrounding the immigration debate.
Economics: We are studying the concepts of supply and demand.
Government: We are continuing our unit on the US Constitution.
Geography: We are in the middle of Chapter 4 and will soon be pausing for our mini-unit on cultural diffusion, using Spain's conquest of the Inca as a case study.
Civics: It's that time: time to prepare for the US Constitution Test. Remember: you must pass this test to graduate.
American Heroes: We are wrapping up our unit on Civil War Reconstruction and will soon begin a new unit on the Industrial Age.
World History: We are finishing Chapter 10, which looks at the role of nationalism in the lead-up to WWI. We will likely be testing on Feb 7 or 8. The following week, we will begin Chapter 12 on the "new imperialism" that led to a second age of European colonization and conquest.
US History: We are in the middle of our unit on WWII and the Post War Era (Chapters 14 & 15). We will likely be testing on this unit the week of February 12.
Current Events: Media Bias viewpoint project presentations will be delivered on Feb 1. We'll analyze the State of the Union Address on Friday, and next week we'll focus on recognizing the danger of fake news in regards to American democracy.
Government: We'll soon be starting our unit on the US Constitution.
Econ: On Feb 1, we will begin our unit examining the law of supply and demand.
Geography A: We have begun Chapter 6 on the human geography of the US and Canada. We will test before Thanksgiving and move on to Chapter 8 on the physical geography of Latin America.
